How Do I Protect My Vehicle’s Wrap from UV Rays and Contamination?

Hey everyone! It’s Tim from Divergent Elite Detailing and AskDivergent.com. I wanted to talk about a recent project we completed on a Corvette named ‘Rwanda’ with a unique wrap design.

The owner had a couple of questions about how to protect his vehicle wrap and remove some scratches. We used a product called Halo by Gtechniq, specifically designed for wraps. We’ve seen excellent results with it on our shop’s trailer, which sits out in the sun all day and still looks brand new. If you have a vehicle wrap, it’s crucial to apply a protective coating like Halo immediately to preserve it. You can remove light scratches and swirling on wraps with careful polishing.

For this Corvette, we used a light polish with a Rupes yellow pad and Sonax, ensuring not to use any gritty substances that could micromar the surface. It’s important to control your speed while polishing to prevent heating up the vinyl too much. Halo is a professional-grade product that requires proper application. If you’re applying a second coat, wait about an hour for the first one to dry. For final curing, leave it for 12 hours indoors without getting wet. This is typical for most professional-grade ceramics.

The result on the Corvette was fantastic – we were able to remove some scratches and light swirling, and the color looked more vibrant. Remember, the key to success with vehicle wraps is to protect them from the start.
